Beauty in Brokenness

In 2019 I embarked on a one year journey to take a picture of nature every day. What began as an attempt to motivate myself to go outside more evolved into a spiritual practice of allowing the world around me speak to me. There is so much we can learn from the world around us if only we take the time to listen. I am sharing some of these reflections in the hope that you may find in my writing some of the wisdom and inspiration that I find in the amazing intricacies of the world we live in.

Rewritten Psalms

This summer I came across James Taylor’s book “Everyday Psalms”. In his book he re-writes Psalms in holding on to the theme of the Psalm and applying that theme to his experiences of the world.

Over the past few months I have rewritten a few Psalms with my experience. It has being an opportunity to spend time in prayer and reflect on what is happening in my life and the world around me. I hope that sharing my reimagining of these scriptures will inspire you to spend some time reflecting on the Psalms (and encourage me to engage in this practice a bit more routinely!)

Poetry

Over the years I have written poetry and never really had anywhere to share it. Some of the poems here will be new and others will be ones I have stumbled across while reorganizing files. The date posted may not actually reflect the date it was written.

Advent

Advent starts four Sundays before Christmas and is a time of preparation. The first post on the Advent page is a set of weekly reflections and prayers for the season of Advent. The can be read as a weekly candle lighting either on you own or with friends and/or family or can simply be an inspiration for weekly reflection or journaling. I will also be adding a reflection on the scriptures of the Christmas story at least once a week – starting Sunday, November 29 (the first Sunday of Advent).
